Welcome to the McHugh Lab! We are interested in studying RNA and protein interactions. Non-coding RNAs control cellular growth and human development by binding and interacting with proteins to achieve their functions. However, the details of the molecular interactions governing RNA-protein binding specificity and how these molecules act together in human cells remain unclear. The long-term goals of our research are to uncover molecular mechanisms by which RNA bind and regulate proteins, and to understand how interactions between non-coding RNA and proteins enable assembly of higher order structures in cells.
